Oneida Lake

Today was just as sticky hot as yesterday -- but we decided to move on, planning to stop in Utica or Rome NY. Utica came up much too fast, and the Rome town wall wasn't at all inviting since there was no electricity (no thomas edison, no air conditioning) so we moved onto Sylvan Beach and a marina. For those of you who boat, marina fees with electricity for two nights is $92 total. We picked two nights because the weather tomorrow looks to be stormy and everyone says don't do Lake Onieda in a storm.

Two other Loopers have shown up since we arrived -- they were in Waterford same time as us, but left a day before we did (they took a full lay day along the way) We've not visited yet as it is still in the mid nineties at 6 p.m.

I personnally thought we were heading north -- but hey, it's the weather.

Today we started back down from the highest point on the Erie, so we are entering the locks full, and having the water released while we are inside. Really a very different sensation from going up.

Pictures later this evening.

It was 97 degrees here today and same for tomorrow. I taught in the air conditiooned school today. But tomorrow none. I'll take frozen water bottles and plenty of iced tea. Only 9 more days till school is out and I can be on the water too. Do I sound jealous....OK ...I guess just a little. Continued good adventures to you all.

A marina sounds like a perfect place to be in this steamy weather. Hopefully the heat will break tonight (Tuesday) as is forecast for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. After climbing up lock ladders, it is good to hear you are now enjoying the descent!

Looks like you're having an amazing adventure so far. We've never seen locks before -- how cool! Don't feel bad about the heat, it's been hotter than hell here.

When not on "Tom Ed" have you tried running the air on your gen set. That little Fisher Panda should be quite fuel efficient (like maybe 1/4 gal an hour or less) and in the sound box should be pretty quiet. Just a thought...
