Into the highest lift on the Erie Canal, and what is called the highest lift of it's kind (note gate that lifts over your head to let you in, and then (Ellen is unperturbed) closes on you. Over 40 feet of lift, it wasn't as bad as we had expected....but still a little nerve racking.

We are now a few more miles east of this beast, in Ilion NY -- at the local marina and RV park which the town has financed to help boost the economy. Really quite pleasant, except that it is 90 degrees outside.

Tomorrow, we may move onto the next major town -- or not, if it is this hot, we could stay here.

This looks amazing! I think it would be a blast to do ... especially on someone else's boat.

Good thing you left your mast in Annapolis!

My stick would be a real hazard in there ;)
