Finally arrived back in Michigan -- at Cheboygan -- after a wonderful, peaceful crossing of Lake Huron. That was Thursday.
On Friday, I came over (by car) to visit with Susan Russell and her friend Barnie who has a home on Walloon Lake. I've been spoiled by hot and cold running water, and places to really walk not just crawl over the rocky shores of the North Channel.
It seemed a shame to end the summer so early, but after twelve days of heavy winds and rain out of 24 in August, Ma Nature was saying enough is enough.
Now, Susan and I are about to start a land tour of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We'll walk the beaches of Superior and hike the little bit of virgin forest left. Then back to the boat, and eventually bring her around to Charlevoix for the winter.
Don't know any specific dates beyond, generally leaving here toward the end of September.
