Atlantic City NJ

Friday, May 30th. We are in Atlantic City -- had a great trip up from Cape May, but the forecast north of here was for deteriorating conditions in the afternoon, so as we drew parallel to the city we used discretion and are now tied up in the State Marina.

Saw my first porpoise playing in the water, and got to see some large fishing ships drawing in their nets -- not related to each other!

I promise, pictures tonight or tomorrow -- looks like we will be here for the next day or so.

For those of you who have seen me struggle to get Sonador backed into the slip at PAM, the good news is that I've done so three times on this trip and looked like I know what I am doing.

That is SO cool! Did Chessie react to the porpoises?

Good decision to stay put - we went out for a daysail this afternoon and that storms' on its way - wind 15 gusting 25 and the pressure is dropping.

Flew over you on an out and back work trip to Long Island today and pretended at least to see you and wave! Thanks for the update and glad you are tucked in for the night.

Our son Patrick Doyle has been working for www.offshore-sailing.com/chelsea-piers.asp and also across the Hudson at the Jersey City location. Please let us know if you would like any local advice.

I'm so envious of your quick trip out the Delaware! Hope your first offshore run was pleasant. I'm glad to hear you're tucked in for the weather to pass. Now don't you go blow your cruising kitty at the casinos ;-)

As to backing in, Capt Melissa, you know what you are doing. Your only problem was these tiny slips here in Port A. They are ego adjustors!

So, I'll end by wishing you calm seas and a safe voyage!
